Minimum Hardware Specifications for Exchange Server Implementation

Ensuring that your system meets the necessary specifications is crucial for achieving optimal performance, reliability, and security. Below are the detailed system requirements for installing and operating Microsoft Exchange Server.

Processor:

  • Requires Intel 64 or AMD64 platform support.
  • Intel Itanium IA64 processors not supported.
  • A minimum of 4 physical cores is recommended
  • Recommended: Up to 2 processor sockets on physical machines.

Memory:

  • Mailbox: Minimum 128 GB recommended.
  • Edge Transport: Minimum 64 GB recommended.
  • Exchange 2019 supports up to 256 GB memory.

Paging File:

  • Set minimum and maximum size to 25% of installed memory.

Disk Space:

  • 30 GB free space on installation drive.
  • 200 MB free space on system drive.
  • 500 MB free space on message queue database drive.

Screen Resolution:

  • Minimum 1024 x 768 pixels (XGA) or higher.

File System:

  • NTFS.
